We’ve mourned as a dear friend has ascended to Heaven beginning his life anew. While happy he no longer suffers, our hearts ache in his absence.
As he walks with Jesus, we think about how he touched our lives in the brief time we knew him.
Although my family knew him for only a few short years, he left an impression of a lifetime.
We knew him as a father figure. He was the person to know in the nursing home. As we sat around the table last Sunday night sharing memories, we laughed, we cried, and our hearts were warmed.
Marion Young was a vital part of strangers becoming friends. He greeted new residents and made them feel at home. He got them out of their rooms and participating in activities.
He was laid to rest today in full military honor. He would have been so proud. Now his memory will continue in our hearts and our minds. He now knows first hand “How Great Thou Art”.
