It starts with a spark,
we warm ourselves and smile.
The wind then comes along,
to carry it for miles.
The beauty of the flames,
move from tree to tree.
Destruction in their wake,
causing animals to flee.
Dancing into town,
flickering with disdain,
Another building down,
Flames win yet again.
With a heavy heart,
we pray for those who lost.
Escaping with their lives,
we wonder at what cost.
We think our lives secure,
as we go about our days.
In an instant life can change,
for Gatlinburg we pray.
