Temporary Happiness

This toxic world in which we live,
always wanting more.
What we have not good enough,
something better we long for.

Not long ago we soon forget,
the people worked together.
A common bond to win the war,
regardless of the weather.

A Great Depression there once was,
commodities were slim.
Yet somehow there was a way,
we made it to the end.

Today obsessed with shiny things,
the objects we adore.
The people lost and hurting so,
we worry with no more.

We wonder why this earthly place,
can seem a living hell.
Because His face no longer sought,
within ourselves we dwell.
